Mario Veen is associate professor at the lectorate Communication in Digital Transitions of the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. His research examines how social interaction in the climate and ecological crisis can be constructive and realistic. He focuses on three interrelated questions: how to facilitate climate conversations that translate to effective climate action? How to connect professional roles and identities to the climate crisis? And how to increase societal resilience against climate disinformation? Mario is an interdisciplinary philosopher who specializes in discursive psychology and interdisciplinary methods to analyze social interactions. Prior to working at HU, he completed a research master Cultural Analysis, a PhD in Discursive Psychology and Technology Assessment, and did research on the role of reflection and philosophy in medical education. His podcast Life From Plato’s Cave addresses topics such as activism, disinformation and climate philosophy.

Mario Veen is hoofddocent bij het lectoraat Communicatie in Digitale Transitie van de Hogeschool Utrecht. Hij onderzoekt sociale interactie in de klimaat- en ecologische crisis: hoe stimuleren we klimaatgesprekken die handelingsperspectief bieden? Hoe verhoud je je vanuit je professionele identiteit tot het grote verhaal van de klimaatcrisis? En hoe vergroten we maatschappelijke weerbaarheid tegen klimaatdesinformatie? Mario is interdisciplinair filosoof met een specialisatie in discursieve psychologie en andere methodieken om sociale interactie te onderzoeken. Na de research master Cultural Analysis (UvA) promoveerde hij op Discursieve Psychologie en Technology Assessment (Wageningen Universiteit) en deed onderzoek naar de rol van reflectie en filosofie in medisch onderwijs (Erasmus MC).
