Short biography
Nina is a PhD candidate in the Governance and Inclusive Development program at the Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research, University of Amsterdam. Her research focuses on the role of (multi)national oil and gas companies and change agents in leaving fossil fuels underground (LFFU). She is part of the project Climate Change and Fossil Fuels (CLIFF, ERC Adv. Grant) led by Joyeeta Gupta, which examines the role of major investors in LFFU, the North-South implications of LFFU, and the necessary measures to be adopted to equitably allocate and accelerate the responsibilities of shareholders and stakeholders in energy transformation.
Nina holds an MA in International Development Studies from the University of Vienna and a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Frankfurt a.M. She has extensive experience in inclusive and sustainable infrastructure development and service delivery, particularly in addressing power imbalances with previous experience in Southern Africa.
